The Symphony of Blockchains project began as a question, what could a Blockchain look and sound like? I worked closely with blockchain pioneer, Charles Hoskinson (creator of Cardano) to create a visual language to represent the component parts of blockchain technology in a way that was accessible and inspiring to wide audience.

The project had a long and detailed R&D phase where I analysed blockchain data and created visual structures that could show transactions, blocks, merkle trees and the mempool. I worked in Houdini & Octane to iterate concepts quickly with live data inputs.

The final project was built using THREE.js and React so that any user with a web browser could jump in and interact with it. I also created a WebVR version, adapted for an exhibition setting - this was featured on CNN.

A unique aspect of this project is the realtime generated audio. I utilised the parallel nature of GPU processing to compute a soundscape for each block of transactions in realtime.
